Nancy Olmsted:  Life Care Planner, Physiotherapist and Vocational Professional:


Nancy is a regulated healthcare professional and has been practicing Physiotherapy for 22 years.  

She is a  Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP) and is a member of the CVRP association.

She is a Certified with the Canadian Certified Life Care Planner (CCLCP) and has been writing comprehensive medical legal Future Care Cost (FCC) reports for personal injury law firms across Ontario for over 15 years.  

Nancy's educational background is thorough and diverse.  She began her University career at Queen's University completing a dual degree BA-BPHE specializing in Physical Health Education.  She completed her B.Ed at Nipissing University in the faculty of Education and carried onto complete her Bachelor of Health Science, specializing in Physiotherapy, BHSc(PT) at McMaster University.

Nancy continued her pursuit of excellence, embarking on her Masters of Science, specializing in Rehabilitation at the University of Toronto.  She has taught at U of T as a lecturer and enjoys teaching students and clients about how to overcome injuries. 

She completed her Occupational Health and Safety Diploma with the University of Fredericton to complete her high level of academia spanning 15 years of post-graduate education.  

Nancy is a driven and dedicated healthcare professional, focusing her clinical practice on complex orthopaedic cases, Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), post-surgical orthopaedic and sports injury cases with a focus on helping individuals experiencing injuries, whether it be mild or severe disability. 

Nancy's focus and determination stems from her youth as a former Olympic athlete.  She competed in the 1984 and 1988 summer Olympics in the sport of canoeing.  She has won over 50 National championship medals and won a bronze medal at the World University Games.  

Nancy continues to pursue various sporting endeavours completing her Instructor Scuba Diver Certification with the Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) in 2016.    She maintains her fitness levels through walking, cycling and swimming.  

 


 

Barbara Olmsted:  Academic Advisor and Editor

 

 

Barbara Olmsted was the Associate Dean of Education from Nipissing University.  Her post-graduate education is extensive beginning with her undergraduate degree in Physical and Health Education (BA-BPHE) and her Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from Queen's University.  Barbara continued her educational pursuits with a Master's Degree  (MA) from Western University.

She began her career in teaching in North Bay at Widdifield Secondary School for 10 years before accepting a position at Nipissing University in the Faculty of Education.  Barbara pursued her Doctorate Degree (EdD) from the University of West Virginia.  

In addition to her long career in academia, Barbara was a two-time Olympic athlete and competed in the 1984 and 1988 summer Games in the sport of canoeing.  She achieved a bronze medal for Canada in the K-4 event in the 1984 summer Olympics in Los Angeles, USA.  

Barbara recently retired from Nipissing University and provides consulting services to Nipissing University.  She is currently the academic advisor and editor for OLM Physiotherapy.
